Zoon In & Out
This project is situated in a discrete site in Rodeo Lagoon, aiming to seamlessly blend local history and wildlife observation into the visitor experience. The inspiration behind this endeavor draws from a combination of Miwok natives’ tents that once occupied the area and the linear composition of the site.
Each dwelling is designed in the shape of a wooden tent reminiscent of the natives, effectively rekindling a connection with history for its visitors. The hostel extends along the site, visually intertwining each unit with one another. Towards the end of the walkway, there is an owl observation spot that offers panoramic views of all the units.
Notably, each unit features an owl nest cutout at the top of the roof, making them visible from the owl observation spot. This thoughtful design adds an element of wildlife observation, harmoniously integrating it with the overarching theme of the project.
